How to Check if ChatGPT or Perplexity Already Mention Your Book
Short answer: just ask. Type into ChatGPT or Perplexity the question a real reader would ask about your book's topic (don't mention your book or your name), and check whether it comes up among the recommendations.
How to phrase the test question
Avoid asking "do you know my book [title]?" — that proves nothing useful. Instead, ask the way a real reader would: "recommend me a book about [your book's specific topic]."
What to do if you don't show up yet
Check whether you have enough presence in sources these models do cite (reviews, forum mentions, your own page with verifiable data).
Repeat the test after publishing more content in this site's AEO and GEO pillars.
Don't expect immediate results — like SEO, this builds over time.
Perplexity explicitly shows its cited sources when answering, making it easier to see if your content is one of them — unlike ChatGPT, which doesn't always expose its sources the same way.Documented Perplexity behavior, 2026
